Next Steps for TEDxCalgary
After a month's work on wrapping up the housekeeping from our inaugural event, we turn to the question of "What next"?
Well, we've already submitted our application to host another event in 2011, so we're committed to continuing the event moving forward. While we await response from the TEDx organizing group, we've been out connecting with many of the participants and groups that were part of our 2010 event. This continues the conversations started at TEDxCalgary, and seeks to extend them into more effective and concrete forms of collaboration among the many talented and connected folks who participated in Humanity 3.0: Leadership the World Needs Now.
One connection that we want to emphasize is the related Innovation Exchange meetup group that we've already talked a bit about. Included among its ranks are TEDxCalgary speakers Jay Baydala, Gena Rotstein, and Donna Kennedy Glans, as well as organizers Rahim Sajan, Buffy St-Amand, and Jonathan Perkins. As a related initiative seeking to identify opportunities for social innovation in the Calgary community, it is a valuable start. Check out the meetup group website, and watch for their next event on June 30th.
As part of our forward planning, we're also working on a series of connector events that extend the themes of TEDxCalgary. These are smaller, more informal gatherings of participants and those interested in the TEDxCalgary theme areas. Stay tuned for further word on these!
In the meantime, stay connected through the TEDxCalgary blog on Wordpress, through our Twitter stream, and through our Facebook page!
