TEDx Introduction

Chris Anderson (TED Curator)

This video was played at the start of our event, and is a standard introduction to the purpose and role of TEDx events like ours. The video is played at all TEDx events.

Daniel Pink

A key reason for including Dan Pink's talk was his focus on internal attributes of striving — the concepts of autonomy, mastery, and purpose — that we need to be encouraging in our next generation of leaders.

Tim Brown

We included Tim Brown's talk given his call for designers — and, by extension, leaders working to design new ways of doing things — to think beyond the short term, and adopt new ways of participatory, collaborative "design thinking".

James Nachtwey

We included 2007 TEDPrize winner James Nachtwey for the important fact that his photographs tell the story of conflict in a way that (fortunately) too few of us in the "developed" world experience first-hand. Absent this experience, we have to find compelling ways to depict the real human cost of the world's ongoing and often hidden conflicts, so that we can learn to do something about them.

Ben Dunlap

We included Ben Dunlap's 2007 talk on living a passionate life given the need for leaders to always remain hopeful in the face of challenge and adversity. Dunlap's story of Hungarian Holocaust survivor Sandor Teszler tells a powerful story about human resilience and the will to overcome.
